Jay is currently serving his eighth term in the Illinois House of Representatives. Elected in 1990 and promoted to floor leader for the Illinois House Democrats four years later, Jay has been recognized by numerous organizations for his work in the Legislature.
Jay has served on the House Judiciary Committee throughout his tenure in the House and currently serves in the powerful position of Chairman of the Transportation and Motor Vehicles Committee.
