Ford Motor Company - By the late 1980s, Ford knew that the colorcoat and clearcoat would peel off (a/k/a delaminate) of its vehicles. This paint delamination generally occurred well after Ford's warranty period for paint-related problems. Despite knowing this, Ford failed to disclose this risk to purchasers of 1989-1996 model year Ford vehicles. The certified class includes original owners whose vehicle currently exhibits delamination, original owners who paid to repair the delamination, and subsequent owners whose vehicle currently exhibits delamination so long as they purchased their vehicle within 5 years of the model year and before the delamination occurred. We are seeking reimbursement for repair costs already paid by class members along with payment for the costs to repaint the remaining vehicles. This case is set for trial in 2006.
